Most importantly, each individual club offers its members the resources to create communities of friends based on their interests, energies, and activities. This community not only helps to foster interpersonal and social relationships but also intellectual relationships. Many members find that the most rewarding conversations take place at the dinner table of one of the many eating clubs. Additionally, many members view the clubs as a "home away from home" where they find themselves spending most, if not all, of their free time. The Clubs also help to foster a close relationship between current and former members through various alumni events. Such events allow students to interact and network with alumni based on a shared experience of life in an eating club. Each club's personality is shaped by its current members and its historical roots; however, over the years each club changes.
